Originally released under another Cowie alias Scan Carriers on Indie label Lithium Records, Mindfield features the excellent Mark Coates on vocals. Again Chris Cowie shows his diversity in this dubbed out collage and his need to pick up his guitar.

Mark Coates gave up singing as a profession because of the similarity between himself and Muse's lead vocalist. Mark said he was tired of being compared to the Muse vocalist which implied he was plagiarising. The fact is Mark Coates was singing long before Muse became well known.

He also sang on X Cabs (aka Chris Cowie) Infectious which was released on Hook Recordings.
